MICHAEL D. HUDGINS was born in Houston, Texas, in 1967. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1989, and he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in 1993.

Mr. Hudgins was a Briefing Attorney to the Honorable Murry B. Cohen of the First Court of Appeals in Houston from 1993-94. His practice focuses on complex legal matters, malpractice claims and appellate issues. His published cases of interest include: Gillespie v. Scherr, 987 S.W.2d 129 (Tex. App.—Houston [14th Dist.] 1998, pet. denied); Verinakis v. Medical Profiles, Inc., 987 S.W.2d 90 (Tex. App.—Houston [14th Dist.] 1998, pet. denied); State v. Wollesen, 93 S.W.3d 910 (Tex. App.—Austin 2002, no pet.); City of Houston v. Allco, Inc., 206 S.W.3d 113 (Tex. 2006); Sydlik v. REEIII, Inc., 195 S.W.3d 329 (Tex.App.—Houston [14th Dist.] 2006, no pet.).

While at South Texas, Mr. Hudgins was President of the Board of Advocates (1992-93), elected to the National Order of Barristers, and earned membership into the Order of the Lytae Honor Society. Mr. Hudgins was a member of three first place national moot court teams, including the Tulane University Sports Law Competition (awarded Best Advocate) and the John Marshall Privacy Law Competition (co-author of Best Brief, published at 6 Software Law Journal 115 (Feb. 1993)). Mr. Hudgins is an adjunct professor South Texas College of Law’s advocacy program; his teams have won five national titles.

Mr. Hudgins is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before all state and federal trial and appellate courts in Texas.
